Interested to know a little bit about my background?
I grew up in a teeny-tiny town in Northwest Ohio. I spent most of my days playing in my large back yard, reading books in my bedroom, singing everything and everywhere, and dabbling in some knitting, sewing, and crafting.
Then I went to college. I left my town, my house, my friends, and my family. I went almost as far as the East coast could allow without living in the ocean to Long Island New York. It was difficult, terrifying, and one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. Thrust into an unknown situation, I either had to give up, or succeed. I chose to succeed.
In high school, my grandmother initially taught me the basics of sewing and I will be eternally thankful. Over the years I have practiced and honed my skills at sewing. I’ve made all kinds of costumes and sewing projects. I am an avid DIY’er and I’ve taught myself how to do a lot of sewing techniques and applications, like making your own patterns, installing boning, and all kinds of different stitches to name a few.
When my son was born, my partner, Shane, and I were informed he has a condition called “craniosynistosis.” Never heard of it? Don’t worry, neither had we. Basically, one of his skull bones fused before it was supposed to and is going to need surgery to fix. I will be out of work for at least 8 weeks with my baby boy while he is recovering.
My partner recognized my knack and talent for my creative crafting and suggested that I make it a business and go with it! So I decided to do just that. With his support, I’ve taken the first steps towards opening my very own business selling my handmade baby blankets, swaddles, onesies, and more.
I try to be a big proponent of being more environmentally friendly in my daily life, but of course we could always be better. I’ve been a vegetarian for over 15 years and there has been considerable research showing the positive impact being vegetarian or vegan has on the environment. I try to recycle or reduce my waste as much as possible. I want to offer people a product that not only looks great and is great for your baby or grandbaby, but one that makes you feel great because you know you’re helping the environment by buying and using it! I value sustainability, chemical free products, reducing my footprint on this plant, and recycling.
I want to be a part of the solution and more importantly, I want to do it with you!
So come join me on this journey to a better, more environmentally positive world, one onesie at a time 🙂
I am Positively Kati.
